book-end John Osborn book-end

Conservationist & Environmentalist
at GRAMMARS WOOD

Near Brighstone, Grammar’s Common, with its dense, almost impenetrable woodland and ancient Black Barrow is an unusual place and well worth a visit.

John Osborn's father bought Grammar's Common in 2018. John is now researching the history of the place and developing a management plan.

He has completed clearance of the Black Barrow so visitors can now see it and will be working in the woods from 9-4pm during the festival
near the Black Barrow so that locals and visitors can come talk to him about the woodland, how he is managing it and see the beautiful views.

He says: There is a glade I’ve created, and the butterfly corridor has been sufficiently widened so the area for the butterflies has increased.
Also, there is the Black Barrow which has been cleared so people can have a walk up and around that, it’s a very nice spot.

To find out more please follow the link:- People and Place - John Osborn

John Osborn, shares a similar vision
to the 'Wihtwara rainbow' community

"I reached out to Jan in the first place because I saw how much she honoured
the Wihtwara and if anyone would benefit from access to the barrow it would be
Jan and the Wihtwara Rainbow tribe. I feel it’s important to honour them and
also to be creating community in that place, honouring the earth and the seasons
and each other. Honouring creative expression too. That’s what I like to see as
Grammars future. It’s feels right: it’s the right time as so many of us are
looking back for a way of life that has been taken from us."

Our ‘Diamond Isle’, now recolonised as a biosphere, is a very sacred island. The Wihtwara were a spiritual peaceful race of people who migrated from the Cimbric peninsula (Denmark) in late Neolithic times. They were Pagan people who worshipped Nerthus the Earthmother. They were guardians of the island. And they were killed for their belief in Nerthus by invading Wessex fundamentalists. Christian overthought has buried their memory.

The major battle took place here in the valley below the Longstone. This island was the last stronghold of Pagan beliefs.

Jan Harper-Whale has researched deeply using DNA archaeological profiling to uncover their lives here on the island and of the Meonwara and Cantwara in Kent. It has taken over seven years of research and is the verifiable truth about our ancestors the Wihtwara.

Tee Pipe

Our ‘Diamond Isle’, now recognised as a biosphere, is a very sacred island.

The work done over many years by our vibrant spiritual community has brought its reward. That Grammars wood with the protected Barrow is now a place of Peace, Love and Harmony. Coupled with the ongoing conservation work of John Osborn in freeing energies within the wood, it is now our spiritual home being offered out to the larger community honouring our ancestors the Wihtwara. Coupled with the native rainbow energy prophesied by Black Elk when he saw all faith ways uniting under the Rainbow tree.

We are truly offering the Peace Pipe. We are as one on our Mother Earth.

During the time, when the pipe, bowl and stem are joined together they are in fact in union with Great Spirit. It is a native-american tradition that respect is shown by everyone present, to be in awareness of the present moment and that all drugs, alcohol and also cameras be put away. We therefore ask that no photography is conducted and phones are turned off during the ceremony.

The aim of this workshop experience is to connect fully with the trees, hear their heartbeat and find ‘your’ tree calling you. Setting the spring water to the tree is an art. Once learnt never forgotten. We all have the inner knowledge to create our own healing and the trees offer up wonderful healing. Let the sun and moon filter down into the essence. The essence will be left for the duration of the festival to be picked up and preserved.

Please bring an empty large sized jar. Several feet of string. Any crystals you wish to energise the tree essence.
